How Cornices are Made

FDC™ Window Cornice Products are engineered to reduce the manufacturing cost of the conventional window cornice.  There is no need for batting, gluing or stapling fabric.  Use an inexpensive hand tool to simply tuck fabric into the preformed tuck grooves.  Reduce the upholstery time to mere minutes.  The finished cornice is very lightweight and installs easily.  When there is a need to change the fabric color and design, you simply remove the existing fabric and put on the new.  Save time and money producing beautiful window treatments.

FDC™ Window Cornice Products are constructed of One Pound Density Expanded Polystyrene (EPS).  EPS offers the cornice form strength and rigidity.  It is lightweight and easily cut to length and assembled.  A tool as simple as a miter box saw or hack saw blade is sufficient for cutting the cornice form to length.  A Low Temperature Hot Glue Gun and Multi Temperature Adhesive Sticks are recommended to attach one section of EPS to another and will make a permanent bond.

FDC™ uses a special form of EPS referred to as "modified" EPS.  This means that it has fire retardant additives that make it virtually fire proof.  All FDC™ Window Cornice Products comply with state of California Quality Standards, City of Los Angeles N.24158 and N .24195.  Flammability Properties are tested under controlled laboratory conditions.  UL Procedure 723, ASTM E084.  Information is available on request.
